I am Dr. Michael Scott Brown. am a Program Chair at University of Maryland University College for the Software Engineering Master's degree in Information Technology.  I chair the graduate software engineering courses.  I also manage all introduction to programming courses for the Graduate School.  I am the Chair for the Software Testing and Verification Micro Masters for the University System of Maryland (USMx) delivered through EdX.org.

I have taught college classes at 10 universities.  I spent nearly 20 years working in the Information Technology field. I have been fortunate to work for some well known organizations like Sun Microsystems and NASA. 

In 2001 I started my own IT company, Valhalla Data Systems. We had contracts with many large government agencies and system integrators.  In 2005 the company began investing profits and over the next few years became a private equity firm.

I live in Clarksburg MD (outside of Washington DC) and in Ocean City MD.
